Here are all of the FINAL scores on Thursday and Friday night for the Class 3A, 2A and 1A Texas high school football games played in Week 7 around the Heart of Texas region.

CLASS 2A FRIDAY FLASHBACK

WEEK 6: Heart of Texas state-ranked teams Crawford & Mart post convincing district wins

Leaving little doubt who the teams to beat will be in both Class 2A divisions residing in the Heart of Texas, Class 2A, DI’s seventh-ranked Crawford Pirates remained undefeated with a convincing 49-17 victory over the Tolar Rattlers at home in their District 7-2A, DI opener, while the Class 2A, DII’s top-ranked and three-time defending state champion Mart Panthers blanked Chilton, 50-0, on the road in District 10-2A, DII action last Friday night.

In other Class 2A, DI action in the region, the Hamilton Bulldogs pounded the Valley Mills Eagles, 53-22, while the Rio Vista Eagles soared past the Itasca Wampus Cats, 69-20, in District 7-2A, DI action. Covid-19 struck again, wiping out the schedule District 8-2A, DI clash featuring the Axtell Longhorns visiting Cayuga. In District 12-2A, DI, the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles suffered a heartbreaking 15-13 district opening loss at home to Thrall. And District 4-2A, DI remained idle before opening league play this week.

In other Class 2A, DII action in the Heart of Texas, the seventh-ranked Albany Lions shut out the young upstart Meridian Yellowjackets, 60-0, while Cross Plains knocked off the Hico Tigers, 33-12, to open District 8-2A, DII competition last Friday night. In District 10-2A, DII play, the Hubbard Jaguars edged Wortham, 22-20, in both team’s league opener.

CLASS 3A FRIDAY FLASHBACK

WEEK 6: Defending state champion Grandview avenges 2019’s only loss to district rival Whitney

Avenging their only loss during the 2019 Class 3A, Division I state championship campaign, the second-ranked Grandview Zebras made an emphatic statement with a dominating 65-8 victory over the defending District 7-3A, DI champion Whitney Wildcats last Friday night, while the West Trojans opened district by blanking Dallas Life Oak Cliff, 55-0.

In District 11-3A, DI, the McGregor Bulldogs came up short in a heartbreaking 45-42 loss to Little-River-Academy, while the Troy Trojans surprised the Lorena Leopards, 49-41, last Friday night. But the marquee game of the week proved to be no contest at all as the Rockdale Tigers crushed the Cameron Yoe Yoemen, 42-9, in the 66th Annual Battle of the Bell.

While most of District 5-3A, DII remained idle with an open week before beginning league play, District 13-3A, DII’s seven-team race began to take shape as seventh-ranked Franklin rolled over the Riesel Indians, 63-21, while the Buffalo Bison remained undefeated with a convincing 61-26 victory over Florence, and the Roger Eagles ran past the Clifton Cubs, 43-7.

GRIDIRON MATCHUPS: WEEK 7

Class 3A, 2A & 1A teams across the Heart of Texas turn full attention to district races with eyes on postseason berths

With just four weeks left in the 2020 Texas high school football regular season for Class 3A, 2A & 1A teams, some district races begin to take shape as six-man football begins league play across the Heart of Texas.

In Class 3A, Division I, the second-ranked Grandview Zebras (2-0 in district, 5-0 overall) will travel to Dallas to face the A+ Academy Knights (0-0, 0-1), who lost their season opener to Dallas Conrad, 46-0, last week.

The marquee Class 3A matchup will feature the McGregor Bulldogs (1-1, 3-3) hosting the Troy Trojans (1-0, 3-2) in District 11-3A, DI, while the Dublin Lions (1-3) will try to knock the Comanche Indians (5-0) from the undefeated ranks in the District 5-3A, DII opener, and the Clifton Cubs (1-1, 2-4) will host the winless Florence Buffaloes (0-1, 0-5) on Homecoming Night at Cub Stadium.

In Class 2A, DI, the seventh-ranked Crawford Pirates (1-0, 5-0) will hit the road to battle for first place in District 7-2A, DI at the Hamilton Bulldogs (2-0, 4-2), while another clash between area teams features the Valley Mills Eagles (0-2, 2-4) at the Rio Vista Eagles (1-1, 5-1).

Hoping to rebound from last week’s heartbreaking 15-13 loss to Thrall, the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles (0-1, 1-3) will hit the road to take on the District 12-2A, DI co-leading and undefeated Hearne Eagles (2-0, 4-0).

In Class 2A, DII, the youthful Meridian Yellowjackets (0-1, 2-3) will try to rebound from last week’s loss to seventh-ranked Albany by visiting the Ranger Bulldogs (0-1, 0-5) in District 8-2A, DII, while the top-ranked Mart Panthers (1-0, 5-0) host a District 10-2A, DII challenger in the Bremond Tigers (1-0, 4-2).

With Class 1A six-man football opening district this week, the 15th-ranked and undefeated Abbott Panthers (6-0) will hit the road to take on the best challenger in District 12-1A, DI in the Penelope Wolverines (4-2), while District 12-1A, DII will feature a classic between two Bosque County rivals as the 22nd-ranked Walnut Springs Hornets (4-2) will visit the defending district champion Cranfills Gap Lions (1-3).
