in Roundups

WEEK 11: District titles, playoff spots & postseason positioning determined in the Class 1A six-man football regular season finales across the Heart of Texas

Although one four-team district and another Covid-impacted district wrapped up things a week earlier, the final week of the 2020 Texas high school football regular season produced some excitement and intrigue as teams scrambled for district titles, playoff spots and postseason positioning in Class 1A six-man football across the Heart of Texas.

The Class 1A, Division I defending state champion Blum Bobcats secured the District 11-1, Division II title with a convincing 72-27 victory over runner-up Avalon last Friday night. As the Heart of Texas’s only undefeated team, the 14th-ranked Abbott Panthers kept their unblemished record intact with a forfeited win over Gholson. And in District 15-1A, DI action, the 11th-ranked Jonesboro Eagles enjoyed an open date last week after wrapping up the district title with a resounding 62-15 victory over runner-up Lometa.

With three of five teams impacted during the season by Covid-19 and the injury big, District 12-1A, DII title showdown took place a week earlier as the 15th-ranked Morgan Eagles posted a convincing 58-6 victory over the playoff-bound Walnut Springs Hornets.

And in District 14-1A, DII play, the Oglesby Tigers won the district championship with an 88-77 head-to-head showdown victory over the runner-up Dime Box Longhorns last week.
