The Sports Buzz Game of the Week features Cranfills Gap hosting Lometa in six-man showdown, check out Class 3A, 2A & 1A schedule for Heart of Texas teams under the Friday night lights

As we head into Week 4 of the 2021 Texas high school football season with a full slate of non-district matchups, some of the Heart of Texas’ top teams will be face stout tests while others attempt to right their ships before entering their respective district races looking for postseason berths.

Under the Friday night lights, THE SPORTS BUZZ Game of the Week will turn its focus on six-man football as the Class 1A, Division II’s 25th-ranked Cranfills Gap Lions (2-1) hosts the Class 1A, DI’s undefeated Lometa Hornets (2-0) at 7 p.m. Friday as both teams will be seeking their third straight win. The Sports Buzz On The Air will be on location in Cranfills Gap shooting video highlights to be posted Saturday.

But the marquee six-man matchup in the region might be Class 1A, DI’s top-ranked May Tigers (3-0) visiting the Class 1A, DII’s undefeated Evant Elks (3-0), while the seventh-ranked Jonesboro Eagles (3-0) hosts the 2019 state champion Blum Bobcats (1-2) in a DI clash.

In Class 2A action, DI’s  foruth-ranked Crawford Pirates (3-0) will be challenged by a road trip to face the Holland Hornets (2-1), while DII’s top-ranked Mart Panthers (3-0) visits the Class 3A, DI’s Whitney Wildcats (1-2).

But when it comes to Class 3A action, the spotlight will be on Class 3A, DI’s fourth-ranked Grandview Zebras (3-0) hosting the Class 4A, DII Glen Rose Tigers (2-1), while the 10th-ranked West Trojans (3-0) will put their undefeated record on the line on the road against DII’s Rogers Eagles (2-1).

Once again this season, THE SPORTS BUZZ will provide award-winning coverage of the 2021 Texas high school football season, focusing on Class 3A, 2A and 1A schools in the 10-county Heart of Texas region — which includes Bosque, Comanche, Coryell, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Johnson, McLennan and Somervell counties.
