Across the Heart of Texas, the Class 3A, 2A and 1A six-man football shined during the second weekend of the 2024 Texas high school football season with excitement and surprises under the Friday night lights. So with that in mind, check out the current team records for football programs across the 10-county Heart of Texas region, along with last week’s scores and the upcoming Week 3 schedule.
Moving into the third week of the 2024 Texas high school football season, seven Heart of Texas squads remain among the state’s Top 10 teams in Class 3A, 2A and 1A, where 42 regional teams battle in 16 districts across the three classifications.
Heart of Texas teams entering the season among the state’s best include two teams climbing two spots with impressive victories — Class 3A, DI’s eighth-ranked Grandview Zebras (1-1), and Class 2A, DII’s second-ranked Mart Panthers (1-1).
Teams ranked in the six-man football Top 10 include Class 1A, DI’s second-ranked Abbott Panthers (2-0) and sixth-ranked Jonesboro Eagles (1-1), along with Class 1A, DII’s fifth-ranked Oglesby Tigers (0-2), sixth-ranked Iredell Dragons (1-1) and eighth-ranked Sidney Eagles (1-1).
