With several teams moving up in the state’s top 10 rankings, the Heart of Texas holds down eight places among the elite in the polls
Moving into the fourth week of the 2024 Texas high school football season, eight Heart of Texas squads remain among the state’s Top 10 teams in Class 4A, 3A, 2A and 1A.
Heart of Texas teams entering Week 4 among the state’s best include Class 4A, Division I’s top-ranked Stephenville Yellowjackets (3-0), Class 4A, DII’s second-ranked Glen Rose Tigers (3-0), and Class 2A, DII’s top-ranked Mart Panthers (2-1), moving up one spot with an impressive 69-2 win over Bartlett coupled with previously No. 1-ranked Stratford’s 31-14 loss to Sunray.
Teams ranked in the six-man football Top 10 include Class 1A, DI’s second-ranked Abbott Panthers (3-0) and sixth-ranked Jonesboro Eagles (2-1), along with Class 1A, DII’s fourth-ranked Iredell Dragons (2-1) leaped two spots with their 51-6 victory over the previously undefeated Class 1A, DI Walnut Springs Hornets (2-1), hoping over fifth-ranked Oglesby Tigers (1-2), while sixth-ranked Sidney Eagles (2-0) moved up two spots with a 58-12 victory over Stephenville Faith.
This week, Class 3A, DI’s eighth-ranked Grandview Zebras (1-2) dropped out of the rankings after a 38-21 loss to the Class 4A, DII Waco Connally Cadets (3-0).
