SQUAD STRONG: Cubs take court full strength tonight vs. Bartlett

December 3, 2019

CLIFTON – With an extended football season and the Thanksgiving holiday break, the Clifton Cub boys basketball team has only taken the court once so far this season. But when the Cubs host Bartlett today with the Junior Varsity tipping off at 6 p.m., followed by the Varsity at 7 p.m., Clifton hoops will be at full strength.

But playing as a short-handed squad did not prevent the Cubs from winning their season opener.

Sophomore Seth Payne poured in a game-high 30 points as the Cubs (1-0) used a strong second quarter to take control of the game, then played a solid second half to knock off Meridian, 52-34, in their season opener Nov. 19.

Senior Seth Williams added 11 points and seven rebounds, while sophomore Jorge Rodriguez pulled down a team-high eight rebounds, dished out four assists and grabbed three steals against Meridian.
