TOURNEY THREE-PEAT: Morgan boys win Gordon Holiday Tournament

GORDON – Led by a 50-point performance by Derik Davenport, the Morgan Eagles boys basketball team knocked off the Gordon Longhorns to win the Gordon Holiday Tournament last Saturday.

After winning their third tournament of the season, the Eagles (13-4) saw their four-game winning streak snapped with a 52-39 road loss to Avalon Tuesday. Morgan opens District 25-1A competition Friday by hosting the Blum Bobcats at 2 p.m.

In the Gordon Tournament, Morgan opened with a 52-35 victory over Sidney Friday morning before edging Mineral Wells Community Christian, 58-54. Then on Saturday, the Eagles earned a place in the championship game with a 52-39 win over Bluff Dale.
