McGregor dominates Heart of Texas’s offensive individual statistical leaderboard for Class 3A & 2A; four players top century mark on tackle chart

THE SPORTS BUZZ’s Gridiron Gladiators recognizes the Class 3A & 2A football individual offensive and defensive statistical leaders who have been grabbing the spotlight under the Friday night lights across the Heart of Texas this season.

McGregor’s Chad Lorenz won our mythical rushing title with 1,577 yards on the ground, while West’s Trey Janek ran for a region-high 20 touchdowns.

Topping the two principle passing categories, McGregor’s VeAndre McDaniel threw for 2,193 yards and 23 touchdowns to lead the Heart of Texas region, while Dublin’s Chris Teten passed for 1,952 yards, and Rio Vista’s Taylor Pritchett tossed 18 scoring strikes.

Dublin’s Christian Ramirez led the region with 51 receptions for 836 yards and tied Rio Vista’s Anthony Perez for the top spot with eight touchdown catches.

Defensively, Comanche’s Cash Cook topped the region’s tackle chart with 130 total takedowns, followed by Rio Vista’s Noah Petty with 126, Rio Vista’s Mason Findley with 116 and Meridian’s Anthony Gonzalez with 100.
