(SCOREBOARD UPDATE: 7:15 a.m., Wednesday, January 5, 2022)
With the spotlight on the NCAA Division I’s FBS playoffs this week, the national semifinal showdowns take place in the midst of a slate marquee matchups in the traditional New Year’s Day bowl games. But with the NFC East championship and a playoff berth secured for the first time since 2018, the Dallas Cowboys have given the faithful plenty to cheer about as they battle for the NFC’s top seed.
Throughout the rest of the 2021 football season, THE SPORTS BUZZ Gridiron Gurus pick’ems panel will test their luck picking all of the FBS Bowl games, as well as NFL playoffs on the road to Super Bowl LVI Feb. 13 at SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, California. Be sure to check back throughout the week for scores from the games and see how are prognosticators have faired.
Joining THE SPORTS BUZZ Gridiron Gurus pick’ems panel this season will be Toney Rogers, a local business owner in the Heart of Texas, while Don Nicholas, Field Representative for U.S. Congressman Roger Williams (TX-25), Meridian Yellowjacket football head coach Wade Morton and The Sports Buzz’ Brett Voss return from last year.

After making a move back to his winning ways two weeks ago, Wade (10-3) excelled to win a troubling week of COVID cancellations and bowl game upsets. Brett (8-5) and Toney (8-5) finished the week strong to make a respectable showing, while Don (7-6) just managed to stay above .500.
Join us every Thursday throughout the 2021 football season as THE SPORTS BUZZ Gridiron Gurus pick their winners for a select group of the week’s high school games, your favorite college teams from the NCAA Div. I, Div. II and Div. III, as well as the state’s two NFL teams, the Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans.
Be sure to make your picks as well!
