HILL CLIMBING: After strong showing in Goldthwaite, Meridian boys & girls run Thrill of the Hill

STEPHENVILLE – Continuing to gear up for the District 10-2A Championship Meet Oct. 16, the Meridian boys and girls cross country teams travel to Stephenville to compete in the Thrill of the Hill Invitational meet today.

Last week, the Lady Jacket varsity team placed second in the Goldthwaite Eagle Invitational held at the Goldthwaite Golf Course, finishing only four points behind host Goldthwaite and well ahead of third place Hico in a preview of the district meet.

Meridian senior Dakota Cassidy captured the individual silver medal in a time of 13:29, just behind gold medalist Kylee Medina of Goldthwaite with a 13:08. Senior Mallory Paruszewski (5th) and junior Norah Lira (9th) also medaled, followed by freshman Cambree White (17th) and senior Reese Errington (21st).

The Meridian girls junior varsity team claimed the meet championship, led by gold medalist Meryl Roberson and bronze medalist Faith Paruszewski, followed by sophomore Haley Creech (4th),  junior Burkly Paruszewski  (10th) and sophomore Braislee White (11th). In the Junior High Division, Daylyn Cassidy grabbed a fourth place medal.

The Meridian varsity boys were led by senior medalist De’Marius Parks (7th), followed by seniors Zak Dirkse (30th) and Cody Warren (35th).

Featuring DeLeon, Goldthwaite, Hico, Meridian and Santo, the District 10-2A Championship Meet will be held Oct. 16 at the Goldthwaite Golf Course.
