GEARING UP: Meridian runners use Goldthwaite to prepare for district

STEPHENVILLE – Taking advantage of every opportunity to gear up for the District 10-2A Championship Meet, the Meridian boys and girls cross country teams traveled to Stephenville last Wednesday to  run in the highly-competitive Thrill of the Hill Invitational meet.

Today, the Jackets and Lady Jackets will be represented in the varsity, junior varsity and junior division when they return to Goldthwaite today for the second time in the last three weeks for the district meet at the Goldthwaite Golf Course in hopes of advancing to the Class 2A, Region II Championships to be held Oct. 28 at the Jesse Owens Memorial Complex in Dallas.

In the Thrill of the Hill Invitational last week, the Lady Jackets placed sixth as a team as senior Dakota Cassidy medaled in 10th place, followed by junior Norah Lira (31st), senior Mallory Paruszewski  (45th), senior Reese Errington (75th)and freshman Cambree White (84th) in the 194-runner field.

In the district meet, Meridian will be running against DeLeon, Goldthwaite, Hico and Santo.
