GRIDIRON GURUS: Week 21

January 16, 2020

PUTTING IT ON THE LINE: NFL PLAYOFFS

With the Texas high school and National college football seasons over, all eyes turn to the National Football League Conference Championship games this weekend.

Sunday’s first game will feature Tennessee (9-7) at Kansas City (12-4) in the AFC Championship game at 2:05 p.m. in Arrowhead Stadium. The surprising Titans have shocked defending Super Bowl champion New England and AFC top-seeded Baltimore to advance.

But the Chiefs, led by Texas-native Patrick Mahomes, scored touchdowns on seven straight possession to come from behind against Houston last week, the most in a playoff game since the NFL-AFL merger in 1970

In late afternoon game will feature the Green Bay (13-3) at San Francisco (13-3) in the followed by the NFC Championship game at 5:40 p.m. in Levi’s Stadium.

After trouncing the Packers, 37-8, on Nov. 24, the top-seeded 49ers enter the game as the clear favorite. But with veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers one step away from returning to the Super Bowl, the Packers will be harder to stop this time around.

Join Clifton head coach Chuck Caniford, Meridian head coach Wade Morton, local sports photographer David Harding and The Sports Buzz’ Brett Voss as The Sports Buzz Gridiron Gurus pick their winners for the week’s upcoming college and pro football games.
