CLIFTON – Snapping a four-game losing streak, the Clifton Lady Cub girls basketball team ran over the Rio Vista Lady Eagles, 42-19, Tuesday night at the Clifton High School Gymnasium.

The Lady Cubs (2-4 in district, 11-14 overall) will try to take another step toward getting back into the playoff chase when they visit the Maypearl Lady Panthers (4-2, 17-6) at 6 p.m.

After blanking the Lady Eagles in the first quarter, Clifton outscored Rio Vista, 15-3, to take a commanding 24-3 lead into halftime before coasting to victory.

Featuring a balanced offensive attack with no one scoring in double figures, the Lady Cubs were led by senior Kamryn Kettler with nine points, followed by senior Naomi Sedberry with eight and senior Sutton Finney with seven. Senior Dacey Dieticker dominated the boards with 12 rebounds, followed by Kettler with 10, while Finney grabbed four steals and dished out two assists.

“The girls had another great defensive night, they played with intensity the entire game,” Clifton girls basketball head coach Whitney Holdbrook said. “All of their hard work in practice is starting to show on  offensive.”
