SNAPPING SKID: Cubs end two-game losing streak vs. Rio Vista, 48-34

CLIFTON – Getting back on track in the District 17-3A playoff race, the Clifton Cub boys basketball team snapped a two-game losing streak with a convincing 48-34 victory over the Rio Vista Eagles Tuesday night in the Clifton High School Gymnasium.

Clifton (2-2 in district, 14-6 overall) will try to make it two in a row today when the Cubs travel to Maypearl (3-1, 10-7) for a 7:30 p.m. game in their quest to earn a playoff berth for the first time in 14 years.

In other District 17-3A action Tuesday night, Grandview overwhelmed Maypearl, 78-32, Whitney knocked off Keene, and West defeated Harmony.

Friday’s district matchups include a showdown for first place with Whitney (4-0, 8-8) hosting Grandview (4-0, 12-12), while Keene (2-2, 8-8) will travel to Waco to play Harmony School of Innovation (0-4, 0-6), and West (1-3, 11-10) visits Rio Vista (1-3, 7-13).
