Class 1A, DI defending state champion Blum, 12th-ranked Jonesboro & DII’s 15th-ranked Morgan top the list of Heart of Texas teams advancing to postseason
THE SPORTS BUZZ Gridiron Matchups presents the Class 1A Six-Man football Bi-District playoff matchups from across the Heart of Texas region.
In Class 1A, Division I postseason action, the Blum Bobcats (6-3) will begin their 2019 state title defense at home with a Region III Bi-District playoff game against Coolidge (5-4) at 7 p.m. Thursday, while the undefeated 14th-ranked Abbott Panthers (10-0) will host Avalon (4-5) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, and the 12th-ranked Jonesboro Eagles (9-1) will take on Nueces Canyon (4-5) in a Region IV Bi-District matchup at 5 p.m. Friday in Fredericksburg.
In Class 1A, DII playoff matchups, the 15th-ranked Morgan Eagles (8-2) hope to begin an extended postseason run when they take on 19th-ranked Gordon (7-3) in a Region III Bi-District playoff game at 6:30 p.m. Friday in Gorman, while the young Walnut Springs Hornets (7-3) take on 11th-ranked Strawn (8-2) at 6:30 p.m. in Hico’s Tiger Stadium.
In a Region IV Bi-District playoff matchup, the District 14-1A, DII champion Oglesby Tigers (9-1) will face 20th-ranked Oakwood (5-3) at 7 p.m. Friday in Penelope
