As teams look for improvement under the Friday night lights, check out the complete Class 3A, 2A & 1A schedule for Heart of Texas gridiron matchups

After an opening week of surprises, upsets and blowouts, many Heart of Texas teams will be looking to right their ships while a few others will aim at imposing their will and dominance as the 2021 Texas high school football season moves into Week 2.

Under the Friday night lights, THE SPORTS BUZZ Game of the Week will feature the Class 1A, Division II’s 20th-ranked Morgan Eagles (0-0) playing host to the 17th-ranked Olgesby Tigers (1-0) Friday at 7:30 p.m. in what will be the season opener for Morgan after getting shut down due to Covid protocols two weeks ago.

In other key Class 1A matchups, the young Cranfills Gap Lions (0-1) will visit the Mount Calm Panthers (1-0), while the ninth-ranked Abbott Panthers (1-0) host the Milford Bulldogs (0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday.

Marquee matchups in Class 2A feature the fourth-ranked Crawford Pirates (1-0) hitting the road to take on the Bruceville-Eddy Eagles (0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, the Valley Mills Eagles (1-0) visiting the Santo Wildcats (1-0), and the Hamilton Bulldogs (1-0) taking on the Class 3A, DII Riesel Indians (1-0).

In Class 3A, the spotlight will be on the Whitney Wildcats (1-0) visiting the Class 4A, DII Robinson Rockets (0-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday, the Lorena Leopards (0-1) hitting the road to take on the Class 4A, DII’s seventh-ranked China Spring Cougars (1-0), and the Clifton Cubs taking on the Little River-Academy Bumblebees (1-0) on the road.
