Moving into third week of non-district matchups under the Friday night lights, check out the complete Class 3A, 2A & 1A schedule for Heart of Texas teams
As we head into Week 3 of the 2021 Texas high school football season with a full slate of non-district matchups, teams from across the Heart of Texas remain focused on building momentum before entering their respective district races looking for postseason berths.
Under the Friday night lights, THE SPORTS BUZZ Game of the Week will feature the Class 3A, Division I Maypearl Panthers (0-1) visiting the Class 3A, Division II Clifton Cubs at 7:30 p.m. Friday at Cub Stadium with both teams seeking their first win of the season. The Sports Buzz On The Air will be on location in Clifton shooting video highlights to be posted Saturday.
But the spotlight will be on Class 3A, DI’s fourth-ranked Grandview Zebras (2-0) hosting Class 4A, DII Godley (1-0) as well as an interesting matchup featuring the Class 3A, DI Whitney Wildcats (1-1) hosting the Class 3A, DII Rogers Eagles (1-1).
In Class 2A action, the Division I’s fourth-ranked Crawford Pirates (2-0) will host the Axtell Longhorns (1-1), the DII’s top-ranked Mart Panthers (2-0) will visit DI’s Flatonia (2-0), and the DI’s Moody Bearcats (1-1) hit the road to take on the DII’s undefeated Hubbard Jaguars (2-0).
In Class 1A six-man football, DI’s fifth-ranked Jonesboro Eagles (2-0) will host TAIAO, Division I’s Joshua Johnson County, the sixth-ranked Abbott Panthers (2-0) host the Covington Owls (1-1), and the ninth-ranked Blum Bobcats (1-1) will try to rebound at home against the Gorman Panthers (1-0).
Once again this season, THE SPORTS BUZZ will provide award-winning coverage of the 2021 Texas high school football season, focusing on Class 3A, 2A and 1A schools in the 10-county Heart of Texas region — which includes Bosque, Comanche, Coryell, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Johnson, McLennan and Somervell counties.
