Cowboys dominated by Tom Brady & the Buccaneers as Dallas loses Dak to injury; Texans squander lead to settle for tie with the Colts
While Week 1 of the National Football League always produces the greatest overreactions of the new season, even the casual observer plainly witnessed the deep trouble the Dallas Cowboys already find themselves in Jerry’s World.
On the other hand, the Houston Texans entered the 2022 season with low expectations. But even still, the Texans managed to disappoint their fan base without even losing the season opener.

TAMPA BAY Buccaneers 19, DALLAS Cowboys 3
In what could not have been a worse beginning to the 2022 NFL season for the Dallas Cowboys, Tom Brady and the Tampa Bay Buccaneers dominated America’s Team, 19-3, in the season opener Sunday night at AT&T Stadium in Arlington.
To make matters worse, Cowboy quarterback Dak Prescott left the game with a fourth quarter injury that will require surgery and out of action for four-six weeks.
The Buccaneers kick four first half field goals before Brady connected with wide receiver Mike Evans on a five-yard scoring strike with 3:23 left in the third quarter to leave little doubt left in the outcome. Running back Leonard Fournette finished with a game-high 127 yards rushing on 21 carries.
In the meantime, the Cowboys mustered very little offensive threats as Prescott completed 14 of 29 passes for 134 yards and an interceptions while the Bucs shut down wide receiver CeeDee Lamb, who caught only two of 11 targets for 29 yards.

HOUSTON Texans 20, INDIANAPOLIS Colts 20 (OT)
Despite owning a 20-3 advantage heading into the fourth quarter, the Houston Texans were forced to settle for a 20-20 tie with the Indianapolis Colts after a scoreless overtime period Sunday at NRG Stadium in Houston.
Quarterback Matt Ryan rallied Indianapolis in the fourth quarter to force overtime in his Colts debut as neither team could score on two overtime possessions each. The Colts moved into field goal range with a 13-play drive that chewed up 6:30, but Rodrigo Blankenship’s 42-yard attempt sailed wide right with two minutes left in overtime.
Outscored 62-3 in two losses against the Colts last season, the Texans looked like winners through three quarters, but the crowd ended up booing the first tie in Texans history. Second-year quarterback David Mills completed 23 of 37 passes for 240 yards and two touchdowns without an interception in the tie.
