With Class 2A, DII Mart & Class 1A, DI Abbott ranked No. 1, Heart of Texas region places seven teams among the state’s Top 10, led by Grandview, Crawford

Following the first five weeks of the 2022 Texas high school football season, seven Heart of Texas squads remain among the state’s Top 10 teams in Class 3A, 2A and 1A with two ranked at the top of the state.

The Heart of Texas state ranked teams include Class 3A, Division I’s fourth-ranked Grandview Zebras (4-1); Class 2A, DI’s third-ranked Crawford Pirates (4-0) and ninth-ranked Tolar Rattlers (4-0); Class 2A, DII’s top-ranked Mart Panthers (5-0); Class 1A, DI’s top-ranked Abbott Panthers (3-0) and fourth-ranked Jonesboro Eagles (4-1); and Class 1A, DII’s sixth-ranked Oglesby Tigers (5-0).

Previously ranked third in Class 3A, DI, the Lorena Leopards (4-1) suffered a shocking 48-44 loss to the now 10th-ranked Cameron Yoe Yoemen (3-2) last Friday night. The loss knocked Lorena out of the Top 10.
