Another Heart of Texas team dropped out of the state’s Top 10, but others continued to climb as Class 3A, 2A & 1A action features season’s first district competition
Certainly, Week 2 of the 2023 Texas high school football season delivered some surprises and thrill rides. But even though its only the third week of the season, the Heart of Texas schedule already will feature district matchups.
In Class 3A, DI, the previously eighth-ranked Grandview Zebras (1-1) dropped out of the Top 10 following a disappointing 51-21 loss to Malakoff, but the Zebras hope to get back on track when they open District 7-3A, DI competition hosting Dallas Life Oak Cliff (0-2), and the Whitney Wildcats (2-0) visit Dallas Inspired Vision (0-2), while the West Trojans (1-1) have an open date.
In Class 3A, DII, the Comanche Indians (2-0) moved up a spot in to No. 9 after crushing Bangs, 70-0, and the Indians will face Early (1-1) in a non-district matchup.

In other classifications across the Heart of Texas, teams will continue playing non-district games in preparation for upcoming district action.
On location for the Game of the Week in Bosqueville this weekend, THE SPORTS BUZZ On The Air features the Class 2A, Division I Bosqueville Bulldogs (0-2) looking for their first win of the season when the host the Class 3A, Division II Clifton Cubs (1-1) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Bulldog Stadium.
Class 2A, DI includes the third-ranked Tolar Rattlers (2-0) held firm, and the Crawford Pirates (1-1) dropped two spots after a 43-20 loss to fourth-ranked Centerville; the perennial powerhouse Mart Panthers (2-0) held on to second in Class 2A, DII with a 48-8 victory over Marlin (0-2).

In six-man football, the Abbott Panthers (2-0) stayed at No. 2 while the Jonesboro Eagles (1-1) dropped four spots in Class 1A, DI with a 60-14 loss to fourth-ranked Westbrook (2-0), and the Oglesby Tigers (2-0) remained the second-ranked team in Class 1A, DII with a dominating 46-0 win over Walnut Springs (1-1).
