Stumbling on the road in Arizona, the Dallas Cowboys try to resolve a laundry list of problems, while the Texans snap their losing streak; check out highlights and Week 4 previews for Cowboys & Texans
Three weeks into the National Football League season, we found out the Dallas Cowboys (2-1) might not be as dominant as they appeared in their first two games. But what happened to the Cowboys appeared to be the norm last week as five 2-0 teams suffered defeats.
At the same time, the Houston Texans (1-2) will not be the pushovers from last season with rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud starting to figure things out. Handing new Texan head coach DeMeco Ryans his first NFL win, 255-pound fullback Andrew Beck returned a kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown to become the heaviest player in league history to score on a kickoff.
Across the NFL, the defending NFC champion Philadelphia Eagles (3-0) walked away with their third straight win, while the Washington Commanders (2-1) were soundly knocked out of the ranks of the undefeated. And unfortunately for the Denver Broncos (0-3), Minnesota Vikings (0-3), Chicago Bears (0-3) and Carolina Panthers (0-3), only one team has ever made the playoffs after going winless in their first three games.
at ARIZONA Cardinals 28, DALLAS Cowboys 16

Winning his first NFL win as a starter, Arizona Cardinals quarterback Joshua Dobbs threw for 189 yards and a touchdown in a 28-16 win over the mistake-prone Dallas Cowboys on Sunday.
Dobbs completed 17 of 21 passes as the veteran backup entered the game 0-4 as a starter losing twice last season with the Titans and twice more with the Cardinals this year. James Conner and Rondale Moore both ran for a touchdown to give new head coach Jonathan Gannon his first win in Arizona as the franchise snapped a six-game home skid that lasted nearly a year.
The Cowboys (2-1), called for 13 penalties for 107 yards, pulled to within 21-16 with 9:33 left on a pair of Brandon Aubrey field goals. Dallas followed up with three drives inside the Arizona 10, including one that ended on a fourth-down stop when Dak Prescott threw an incomplete pass and another on an interception in the end zone. Prescott completed 25 of 40 passes for 249 yards and a touchdown.
Dallas looked like one of the best teams in the NFL through two weeks, drubbing the Giants 40-0 in Week 1 and beating the Jets 30-10 in Week 2. But the Cowboys had a tough week at practice — losing star cornerback Trevon Diggs for the season with an ACL injury.

HOUSTON Texans 37, at JACKSONVILLE Jaguars 17

Houston head coach DeMeco Ryans and rookie quarterback C.J. Stroud notched their first victories as the Texans posted a convincing 37-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday.
Stroud threw for 280 yards and two touchdowns, including a 68-yarder to Dell that sealed the victory, and became the first player in NFL history with 906 yards passing, four TDs and no interceptions through his first three games.
Tank Dell set the franchise record for receiving yards by a rookie, finishing with five catches for 145 yards. And No. 3 overall pick Will Anderson became the first Houston rookie to block a field goal since JJ Watt did so in 2011.
But the play of the game came when Andrew Beck, a 255-pound fullback from nearby Tampa, became the heaviest player in NFL history to return a kickoff for a touchdown. Initially fumbling the kick, Beck picked up the loose ball, broke five tackles and outran several defenders on his way to an 85-yard score, his first touchdown since his rookie year in 2019.
The Texans won their fifth in a row in Jacksonville, winning 16 of the past 19, including 10 of 11 in the series.
