Here are Thursday’s and Friday’s final scores along with results from suspended games played on Saturday. Results include each team’s updated district season records for the Class 3A, 2A and 1A Texas high school football action from around the Heart of Texas region.
On location in Iredell on Thursday and Hico on Friday this weekend, THE SPORTS BUZZ On The Air features the Class 1A, Division II’s 14th-ranked Iredell Dragons (1-0 in district, 7-1 overall) hosting the resurgent Walnut Springs Hornets (1-0, 3-5) in a battle in what could prove to be the deciding factor for the District 13-1A, DII title at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at Dragon Stadium for THE SPORTS BUZZ Game of the Week.
Then on Friday night, the Class 3A, DII Clifton Cubs (1-2, 3-5) make the long road trip to Elkhart to take on the Elks (1-2, 4-4) in a showdown to take the driver’s seat for third place in District 13-3A, DII at 7:30 p.m. at Jerry Ives Memorial Stadium, while the Class 2A, DII Meridian Yellowjackets (1-3, 2-6) visit the Hico Tigers (3-2, 6-3) in a District 10-2A, DII matchup at 7:30 p.m. at Tiger Stadium looking to mount an upset to take another step toward their first playoff berth since 2017.
