Here are Thursday’s, Friday’s and Saturday final scores for the opening weekend of the Class 3A, 2A and 1A Texas high school football action from around the Heart of Texas region.

On location in Morgan on Thursday, Clifton and Meridian on Friday, and Kopperl on Saturday, THE SPORTS BUZZ On The Air features the Class 3A, Division II Clifton Cubs looking for their third straight trip to the playoffs when they open the season by hosting the Class 2A, DI Riesel Indians at 7 p.m. Friday at Cub Stadium in THE SPORTS BUZZ Game of the Week.

And offering a Heart of Texas six-man football doubleheader on opening weekend, THE SPORTS BUZZ Six-Man Games of the Week will feature the Class 1A, Division II Cranfills Gap Lions visiting the Morgan Eagles at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, and then the Class 1A, DII Kopperl Eagles hosting the TAIAO Division 3 Hillsboro Hill County Wolves at 7 p.m. Saturday.

New this season, THE SPORTS BUZZ On The Air will present one of its weekly 10-minute highlight and interview segments every Sunday sponsored exclusively by Clifton Feed & Service Center before the 4 p.m. matinee movie at the historic and beautifully-renovated Cliftex Theatre in Clifton, the longest continuously running movie house in Texas, showing films on the silver screen since 1916.
