Here’s the complete Regional Playoff schedule for Class 6A, 5A, 4A, 3A, 2A & 1A teams in the Heart of Texas region and around Central Texas as the 2024 Texas high school football season moves into the third round of postseason tournament.

On location in McGregor this weekend, THE SPORTS BUZZ On The Air features the back-to-back District 11-1A, Division II champions and seventh-ranked Iredell Dragons (10-2) advancing to the Class 1A, DII, Region III Final and State Quarterfinals to face the Oakwood Panthers (7-5) at 6 p.m. Friday at McGregor High School’s Bulldog Stadium for THE SPORTS BUZZ Game of the Week.
Coming off a dominating 59-14 Bi-District playoff victory over the Bynum Bulldogs, the Dragons slipped past the eighth-ranked and perennial powerhouse Strawn Greyhounds, 91-90, in a wild, high-scoring Area playoff shootout last Friday night at the historic Hico Tiger Stadium.
With a dominating 74-36 victory over the Three Way Braves (9-2) in a Bi-District matchup Nov. 15 in Abbott, Oakwood advanced to the Class A, Division II, Region III Area round, where the Panthers disposed of the Gold-Burg Bears (7-5), 63-24, last Friday night at Ferris High School’s Yellow Jacket Stadium.
The winner will advance to the Class 1A, DII State Semifinals, earning the right to face the Region IV victor between second-ranked Richland Springs Coyotes (12-0) and third-ranked Oglesby Tigers (10-2), who will battle at 4 p.m. Friday at Belton ISD’s Tiger Field.
New this season, THE SPORTS BUZZ On The Air will present one of its weekly 15-minute highlight and interview segments every Thursday at approximately 6:40 p.m., sponsored exclusively by Clifton Feed & Service Center, before the 7 p.m. movie at the historic and beautifully-renovated Cliftex Theatre in Clifton, the longest continuously running movie house in Texas, showing films on the silver screen since 1916.
The Sports Buzz On The Air segment will replay every Sunday at approximately 3:40 p.m. prior to the 4 p.m. matinee feature film at The Cliftex Theatre in Clifton.
Once again this season, THE SPORTS BUZZ will provide award-winning coverage of the 2023 Texas high school football season, focusing on Class 3A, 2A and 1A schools in the 10-county Heart of Texas region — which includes Bosque, Comanche, Coryell, Erath, Hamilton, Hill, Hood, Johnson, McLennan and Somervell counties.
