DOWN & OUT: Lady Cubs ousted from contention by 21st-ranked West

CLIFTON – After experiencing the thrill of victory on Senior Night last Friday, the Clifton girls basketball team suffered a crushing 56-26 loss at 21st-ranked West Tuesday night, officially eliminating the Lady Cubs from postseason contention.

Senior Kamryn Ketter led the Lady Cubs with 14 points, followed by senior Dacey Dietiker with four points and a team-high 11 rebounds and senior Josephine Burke and with four points and seven boards. Senior Sutton Finney led Clifton with three assists and two steals.

In other District 17-3A action Tuesday night, ninth-ranked Grandview knocked off Keene, 39-25, 25th-ranked Whitney crushed Rio Vista, and Maypearl slammed Harmony School of Innovation, 71-16.

The Lady Cubs (3-7 in district, 12-17 overall) return home to take on Keene Keene (4-6, 9-10) at 7:30 p.m. Friday in the Clifton High Gymnasium. Other district matchups include ninth-ranked Grandview (9-1, 25-4) visiting Rio Vista (1-9, 2-14), 25th-ranked Whitney (7-3, 24-6) hosting Harmony School of Innovation (0-10, 1-11), and West (8-2, 23-6) traveling to Maypearl (8-2, 21-6) in a battle for second place.
