GRIDIRON GURUS: Week 23

PUTTING IT ON THE LINE: SUPER BOWL LIV

For the first time since the 2015 season, Super Bowl LIV will not feature the New England Patriots competing for yet another NFL title game when the NFC champion San Francisco 49ers face the AFC champion Kansas City Chiefs Sunday at 5:30 p.m. in Hard Rock Stadium in Miami Gardens, Florida.

Bringing two of the league’s most vibrant, entertaining teams for the culminating event of the NFL’s 100th anniversary season, there have been few Super Bowl matchups as close as this one in recent memory. With the Chiefs entering the showdown favored by a single point, only one Super Bowl line has been that close over the past 35 years. And in Super Bowl XLIX, the clash between the New England Patriots and Seattle Seahawks ended up being decided by a yard.

With that said, the Kansas City Chiefs will be making their first appearance in the NFL title game since winning Super Bowl IV over the Minnesota Vikings, 23-7, 50 years ago. On the other hand, the San Francisco 49ers will be seeking their NFL-record tying sixth Lombardi Trophy, but it would be the first time for the storied franchise to win since 1994.

Join Clifton head coach Chuck Caniford, Meridian head coach Wade Morton, local sports photographer David Harding and The Sports Buzz’ Brett Voss as The Sports Buzz Gridiron Gurus pick their winners for the final two pro football games of the season.

Be sure to make your picks as well!
