Shocking the college football world, 17th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs upset 8th-ranked Oklahoma State to remain undefeated, 22nd-ranked Texas Longhorns hold off Iowa State, Baylor Bears drop heartbreaker to West Virginia
As one of only a handful of undefeated major college football teams in the nation, the Texas Christian Horned Frogs used the shocking upset of previously undefeated Oklahoma State to leap into the Top 10 of the Associated Press rankings released Sunday.
On the strength of their impressive win Saturday, the Horned Frogs vaulted to No. 8 in the AP Top 25 poll, and the Longhorns survived a scare against Iowa State to climb one spot in the rankings to No. 21, while the Baylor Bears suffered a devastating loss to West Virginia, and the Texas A&M Aggies had an open week in the schedule.
No. 17 TEXAS CHRISTIAN Horned Frogs 43, No. 8 OKLAHOMA STATE Cowboys 40 (2OT)
Despite falling behind early, the 17th-ranked TCU Horned Frogs shocked the previously undefeated and eighth-ranked Oklahoma State Cowboys, 43-40, in double overtime Saturday at Amon G. Carter Stadium in Fort Worth.
Still trailing by two touchdowns in the fourth quarter, the Horned Frogs (3-0 in Big 12, 6-0 overall) tied the score at 30-30 with 1:57 left in regulation when running back Emari Demarcado took the direct snap, handed the ball off to senior quarterback Max Duggan, who connected with tight end Jared Wiley on a 10-yard scoring strike.
But the game winner came in the second overtime as Kendre Miller scored on a two-yard run to make TCU the last remaining undefeated team in the Big 12 Conference. Miller finished with a game-high 104 yards rushing.
Despite losing his starting job going into the season, Duggan replaced the injured Chandler Morris in the season opener and leads the Big 12 with 16 touchdown passes. Duggan completed 23 of 40 passes for 286 yards and two touchdowns against the Cowboys.
After building a 24-7 lead in the second quarter, Oklahoma State (2-1 in Big 12, 5-1 overall) managed only two more field goals and failed to score a touchdown until overtime.

No. 22 TEXAS Longhorns 24, IOWA STATE Cyclones 21
Trailing in the fourth quarter, the No. 22 Texas Longhorns rallied to snap a three-game losing streak to the Iowa State Cyclones, 24-21, Saturday at Darrell K Royal Memorial Stadium in Austin.
Texas quarterback Quinn Ewers tossed three touchdown passes and Heisman Trophy candidate Bijan Robinson rushed for 135 yards to lead the Longhorns (3-1 in Big 12, 5-2 overall) against the Big 12’s top-rated defense to hand Iowa State (0-4 in Big 12, 3-4 overall) its fourth straight loss. With the win, Texas matched its 2021 win total, the first season under head coach Steve Sarkasian.
In his second start since returning from injury, Ewers completed 17 of 26 passes for 172 yards, connecting with Xavier Worthy on two scoring strikes and Jordan Whittington on another. Worthy led Texas with eight catches for 72 yards.
Despite failing to score a touchdown on their 18th straight possession over the last three games before scoring the third time they had the ball against Texas, the Cyclones outgained the Longhorns, 403-363, in total offensive yards. But Texas capitalized on three Iowa State turnovers, including an interception in the endzone by linebacker Jaylan Ford to prevent the Cyclones from taking an early 14-0 lead.

WEST VIRGINIA Mountaineers 43, BAYLOR Bears 40
Losing starting quarterback Blake Shapen in the third quarter, the Baylor Bears could not hold off West Virginia as the Mountaineers rallied to pull off a last minute 43-40 victory Thursday night at Milan Puskar Stadium in Morgantown, West Virginia.
With the loss, the Bears (1-2 in Big 12, 3-3 overall) dropped back into the pack of the very competitive Big 12 Conference, while West Virginia (1-2 in Big 12, 3-3 overall) claimed a much-needed win to remain in contention for a bowl invitation.
Baylor lost Shapen in the third quarter when he slid on a scramble and took a helmet-to-helmet hit from Mountaineer Andrew Wilson-Lamp, who was flagged for targeting and ejected. Shapen left the game after completing 14 of 22 passes for 326 yards and two touchdowns as the Bears finished with 590 yards of total offense in the loss. Baylor receiver Gavin Holmes set career highs with seven catches for 210 yards and a score.
