With the eighth-ranked Texas Longhorns dropping five spots in the national rankings following the shocking upset in the Red River Rivalry, Texas A&M comes up short against 19th-ranked Tennessee while Houston, SMU & TCU win
After dropping five spots in the national poll, the eighth-ranked Texas Longhorns remained idle and licking their wounds from a shocking upset by the now sixth-ranked Oklahoma Sooners in the Red River Rivalry last week, while the Texas A&M Aggies came up short in their upset bid against the 19th-ranked Tennessee Volunteers.
But in other Texas major college action, the Houston Cougars shocked the West Virginia Mountaineers with a Hail Mary touchdown pass in the final seconds of a 41-39 thriller, the TCU Horned Frogs bounced back for a commanding 44-11 victory over BYU, and the SMU Mustangs sunk the East Carolina Pirates, 31-10.
